Blanket for Braden

At the Jr. Miss Kansas World and Kansas Teen World pageant several of the girls worked on making blankets for Braden and Zach Hofen. Braden is the wonderful little boy whose race - Miracle Mile was in April and featured on this blog at that time. We love love love Braden and his brother Zach! Lauren Sage was so excited to be able to give them the blankets made by love from the Kansas girls! Even though it was a warm day Braden decided to "try on" his blanket! Then he and Lauren Sage had fun playing basketball. You would never know he had taken a round of chemo earlier, he was up for hoops!!!

Walk With Us to Cure Lupus 2010

Saturday May 15th, Walkers gathered at the Theis Park in downtown KC, Mo. to Walk to raise funds for Lupus Research. A great big thank you to Callie Hobkirk for joining us for the day to help Lauren Sage paint faces. The first face painting of the day was for Eddie Kennison of the Eddie Kennsion foundation, sponsor of the event. Although the day was rainy, spirits were high as people gathered to walk in order to raise funds for research on Lupus. Systemic lupus erythematosus is a chronic, potentially devastating autoimmune disease in which the immune system turns against the body's own cells and tissues, causing inflamation and tissue damage. Lupus can affect many parts of the body, including the joints, skin, kidneys, heart, blood vessels and brain. Lupus affects people of all ages, including children, but it most often strikes people when they are between the ages of 15 and 45. Nine out of ten people with lupus are women. Jr Miss Kansas World Pageant 2010

Serving as Jr. Miss Kansas World has been an incredible experience for Lauren Sage. There are so many wonderful people to thank for the opportunity! The Directors, staff, judges, contestants along with all the kind people our family has been blessed to meet over the past year- thank you! The Jr. Miss Ks. World 2010 Pageant was held in Wichita Ks. this past weekend.
Such an amazing group of young ladies gathered to compete for the Ks. Title. The weekend was packed with rehearsals, lunches, dinners, an outing to the boys and girls club and of course the competitions. We hope you enjoy looking at these pictures- just a few pics of the wonderful weekend. A very heartfelt congratulations to Allie Marx the newly crowned Jr. Miss Ks. World! And to all the newly crowned queens this weekend. May you use your year to have a positive impact on the lives of others and wear your crown with grace and compassion!
